Journalclub Continuum Robotics
The goal of this tutorial is to catch up on recent scientific results in continuum robotics, to understand the main contribution of a research paper, to present research results in limited time, and to practise critical analysis of research papers. The tutorial is associated with the course on continuum robotics and it is recommended to take both in one semester.
The introductory lecture will give an overview of research papers, explain the difference between conference and journal papers, clarify terms such as impact factor, h-index, number of citations, and explain how research papers should ideally be written and designed. Each student will pick one research paper for self-study from a preselected set of papers. In the scope of a block seminar at the end of lecture period, each student will give a 15 minutes’ presentation on his/her paper. Together will all participants, the main scientific contribution and the general quality of the research paper will be assessed and discussed.
Introductory Lecture with assignment of papers. 27.10.2017 from 9:30 to 12:00 Uhr in room A145 in building 3403.
Block course with presentation of all students during lecture free time. Date and time will be announced shortly.
The number of students is limited to 30 (drawn randomly from all registrations). Students taking the Module Continuum Robotics will be preferred. Further information and registration on Stud.IP
